Dedicated Servers Description

When we talk about hosting servers, there are 3 main categories - shared hosting servers, VPS (virtual hosting servers) and dedicated servers. Shared servers accommodate numerous clients and thus the system resources per account are limited, virtual private servers give you more configuration autonomy, but also influence other VPS web hosting servers on the hardware node if utilized unwisely, and dedicated servers offer you the option to perform everything you wish without intervening with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated servers?

Atom 1
Intel Atom D525 1.8 GHz (2 cores)
4 GB DDR3 RAM
2x250 GB HDD Hard Drives
$80.00 / month
AMD 1
Opteron 4170 HE 2.1 GHz (6 cores)
8 GB DDR3 RAM
2x500 GB HDD Hard Drives
$120.00 / month

Dedicated servers are usually much more expensive than shared hosting web servers or VPSs. Why would anyone, then, use them? The answer is pretty simple. If your company has a repeatedly visited site, or simply has very exact server setup requirements, the proper option is a dedicated servers. For someone who is willing to invest in safety and stability, the bigger price is not an issue. You gain full root privileges and can use 100 percent of the server's resources without anyone else availing of these system resources and meddling with your online portals.

Hardware specs

The majority of website hosting vendors, incl. us at Web Hosting Organization, provide several hardware configurations you can choose from based on your demands. The hardware configurations offer different types of microprocessors, a different number of cores, different RAM and server hard disk sizes and different monthly bandwidth quotas. You can pick a hosting CP, which is a convenient user interface if you would like to use the dedicated servers for website hosting purposes only and prefer not to use a Secure Shell client for all the modifications you will be making. We provide 3 types of Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The web hosting CP of your choosing

If you are a confident Linux user (our dedicated servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated servers through a Secure Shell client only. That, however, could be awkward, especially if you choose to give complete root access to somebody else who has less technical proficiency than yourself. That is why having web hosting Control Panel software installed is a good idea. The Hepsia Control Panel GUI that we provide does not give you complete server root access and is mainly suitable for somebody who runs plenty of web sites that demand a lot of system resources, but prefers to manage the web portals, databases and email box accounts via an easy-to-use web hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel hosting CPs, on the other hand, give you root access and include 3 levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell hosting accounts rather than utilizing the dedicated servers just for yourself, you should pick one of these two.

Web server monitoring and backup procedures

Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your web server, such as a non-responsive Apache or a network outage, it is useful to have some sort of monitoring platform activated. Here at Web Hosting Organization the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated servers as well. Backups are also a bonus feature - the company offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could choose a kind of RAID that would permit you to keep the very same data on two disk drives as a protective measure in case of a server hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given full root access erases something by accident.
